Ammonium Acceleration of Glycolysis in the Ethanol Fermentation in a High Corn System
نویسنده
چکیده
A non-saccharified high stress corn mash system was used to study the acceleration of glycolysis in glucose ethanol fermentation by Saccharoniyces cerevisiae. It was found that the controlled addition of ammonium sulfate or ammonium chloride resulted in an accelerated glycolytic rate, independent of the final ethanol yield. Adding high levels of ammonium salt, however, resulted in decreased extracellular pH and delayed cessation of fermentation. The delayed cessation of ethanol production was due to the decrease in extracellular pH, which could be controlled by the addition of citrate buffer.

Enhanced Bioethanol Production in Batch Fermentation by Pervaporation Using a PDMS Membrane Bioreactor
The integration of batch fermentation and membrane-based pervaporation process in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) was studied to enhance bioethanol production compared to conventional batch fermentation operated at optimum condition. For this purpose, a laboratory-scale MBR system was designed and fabricated. Dense hydrophobic Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membrane was used for pervaporation. For fer...

The Box-Wilson central composite design (CCD) based on response surface methodology (RSM) was used for ethanol fermentation using very high gravity (VHG) finger millet hydrolysate. Optimized process variables were namely, concentrations of yeast extract, magnesium sulphate and pH of the medium. High gravity mashes (>300 g dissolved solids per liter) were prepared by a thermo-stable α-amylase, f...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different corn processing methods on rumen microbial flora, histomorphometry and fermentation in fattening male lambs. Twenty male lambs (average age and weight of 90 days and 25.00 ± 1.10 kg, respectively) were used in a completely randomized design including four treatments and five replicates each over 80 days long period: 1) Lambs f...

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of inoculation of homo-fermentative lactic acid bacteria(LAB) on ensiling characteristics and nutritive value of low dry matter corn silage (LDMCS). Corn foragewas harvested at milk stage (22.8 ± 0.9% DM), chopped at theoretical length of cut (TLC) 2.5 cm, and stored in eighteen 3.8 L mini silos for each treatment. The following treatments were u...
متن کاملDry-grind processing using amylase corn and superior yeast to reduce the exogenous enzyme requirements in bioethanol production
BACKGROUND Conventional corn dry-grind ethanol production process requires exogenous alpha and glucoamylases enzymes to breakdown starch into glucose, which is fermented to ethanol by yeast. This study evaluates the potential use of new genetically engineered corn and yeast, which can eliminate or minimize the use of these external enzymes, improve the economics and process efficiencies, and si...
